Anticipatory Luminance Propagation

ALP

When one fixture detects a vehicle or pedestrian, it signals the fixtures around it over a 5.4 GHz link.
The path ahead is lit before anyone reaches it.

Conventional occupancy sensors

P2 · Drive aisle B

Each fixture reacts only once you are under it. The aisle ahead stays dark.

ALP networked lighting

P2 · Drive aisle B

The detecting fixture signals ahead. Drivers and pedestrians see each other early.

ALP with a pedestrian

P2 · Walkway

A person on foot triggers the same signal. The path ahead lights as they walk to their car, including around each turn.

Dark zones ahead of a car are where a pedestrian goes unseen, most of all when the car turns into an aisle that is still dark. More important, they are where someone can wait out of sight. Lighting the path ahead lets a person walking to their car see who is there before they get close.

Why it is safer

Conventional

Light follows the occupant. A driver rounding a column sees a pedestrian only when both are already in the lit zone.

ALP

Light leads the occupant. Approach paths are lit in advance, so sightlines open before people meet.

Why it costs less

No sensors to install

Detection is built into every fixture. There are no separate sensors to mount, wire to run, or node to commission.

Service is a bulb swap

Sensing, control and light are one unit. If a fixture goes bad, replace it.

Priced like a sensor

Priced comparably to current occupancy sensors.
