According to the EPA’s regulations under FIFRA, products making claims to kill or reduce microbes via light (such as UV or visible-light-based devices) are regulated as pesticidal devices, not traditional pesticide products. While these devices do not require full EPA registration, they must be produced in an EPA-registered establishment, carry the appropriate labeling, and avoid false or misleading claims. For future applications involving microbial reduction in regulated settings, we are application pending pursuing FDA certification to expand approved use cases.
